Race Results

Thanks for all the encouragement! Even though I wasn't as prepared this year, I still managed to finish with a time of 2:58:45 and placed 2nd in my age division. I'm not sure what my split was yet, but I think my average on the bike was around 18.8 miles per hour, which is a record for me in a 25 mile bike ride. I came home and passed out for 4 hours yesterday afternoon. It takes alot out of me but is totally worth it! By the way, I went back to the race results from last year and my time was 3:20!!! I cut over 20 minutes! That's crazy!

Beach Blast Triathlon

Tomorrow is a big day for me. I'll be doing the Beach Blast Triathlon in Mexico Beach. My former boss is letting me stay in one of his cottages out there, so my plan is to drive over after work, get everything ready to go, pick up my race packet, eat a big dinner and get a good night's sleep before the 7 a.m. race. Last year my time was just under 3 hours which was my goal. I'm really hoping that I can do at least that well this year. I'm not as prepared but I know the course this time and will be able to pace better, hopefully. This will be my first race without Erik, so it's kind of a way for me to prove that I do this for me and not for him. I'll be making up my own breakfast, getting everything together, setting up my own transition and acting as my own cheer leader. So, if you think about me in your sleep tomorrow morning, say a little prayer for a safe and fast race for me. Thanks!

Events of Late

Big news: I passed the Florida Real Estate License Exam! Yeah! No more studying on beautiful sunny weekends! It was a very tough test, and I really thought it could go either way when I was done. It was such a non-event. They printed my license and said in monotone, "Congratulations. You passed." I was so relieved...

Other news: I was "in a relationship" and out of it all in a matter of two weeks. His name is Robert, and it was a little too much too soon. He all but proposed before allowing me to see some sides of him that were less than compatable with my personality and relationship philosophy. So, as far as I see it I dodged a bullet. Very sweet guy, but not MY sweet guy.

Cool little Alys Beach news: A Forbes.com article on "America's Top Second-Home Spots." Alys Beach was named "Best Spot For The Design-Savvy":
